Today is a bitter-sweet day. For the past 5 years our company has been known as Captured by Mikki, but today marks the beginning of something new and totally exciting! We have changed our company name to Mikki Platt Photography, along with creating & designing a brand new website and blog! I know, it’s totally crazy, but at the same time it was totally necessary. I can’t wait to show you all what we have been vigorously working on for the past 6 months!

…he just might LOVE it! Happy Weekend everyone!

P.S. Linc’s chair was seriously the biggest bargain of the year! We looked for hours and didn’t feel like spending $200, so we went to target and left the store having spent $7.87.
P.S.S. I cut my hair and even got some bangs:) I like it, even though I have NO clue how to do it, I needed something fresh and fun. My sister Steph works magic with scissors!

It’s been a wonderful year so far! We’ve been featured by Utah Valley Bride Magazine, for Whitney & Jakes winter wedding. And also by the new Southern Utah Bride Magazine for Ashley & Nicks spring wedding. These images are scans, but you can pick up your copy of these magazines and check out all the fun inspiration. Whether you’re a southern or northern Utah bride, there are plenty of ideas and fun features to get your wedding planning going! It’s awesome and humbling to see our work published! I’m a bit excited if you can’t tell!

I’m honored, humbled, and oh-so excited for the surprise I got today over at the Utah Bride Blog. Megan & Audrey are truly amazing women and crazy talented with their own businesses of graphic design and floral, but they also created a wonderful blog for all of us to enjoy! Check out one of my favorite bridal sessions that received “Favorite Bridal Session of the Year” recognition from the Utah Bride Blog! You can see it HERE. I feel so lucky to have been chosen by Brittany & Bryce to be their photographer. They have such amazing chemistry and were an absolute joy to be around and work with.

I am so flattered that Utah Bride Blog wanted to feature some of my work on their awesome blog! Brittany & Bryce were such a wonderful couple to work with, so it made me so happy to see their images featured!

UBB also contacted me back in January about using some of my images for their 2010 marketing, and I never got around to posting about it. The images were from Emily & Rad’s beautiful wedding at La Caille and it was seriously the most exciting day ever when they contacted me about using them! Megan & Audrey at the UBB are fabulous women!!! Thank you so much for the feature!

Our little man is growing up way too fast. I was warned about this before he was born, but he is about to turn 5 months old and it has completely snuck up on me.
Each stage is amazing to us and we fall more in love with him every day. I love that he sucks on his little fist and fingers and drools non stop! He has the cutest eyes and lips and I love kissing his soft cheeks all the time! He is a jabber box and rolls from his back to his tummy and tummy to his back, sleeps through the night and belly laughs at the most random things…like today, I kept saying “Tarzan” and it was cracking him up…but he will barely crack a smile when I make a complete fool of myself! He’s almost half a year, and that means it’s almost his first birthday and then he might as well be five, 15 and then leaving for college. Oh time, please stop flying by so fast! Makes me realize how important it is to really enjoy each day, good or bad, and not get too overwhelmed or take myself too seriously. I love when I get home late from shooting a wedding all day and my boys are in the driveway waiting for me; Linc gets so excited, gets the biggest smiles on his face, and his hands and feet go nuts! Makes my heart sing! Sure love this boy!

Just one today…from Ben & Carissa’s bridal session at La Jolla Cove. Their wedding is tomorrow and it’s going to be a party by the beach! Can’t wait!

{Some Crazy Weather}

So as many of you know, we have had some awesome weather today. There was hail, thunder, lighting, and a ton of rain. Tonight at midnight we went out and had some fun photographing lightning. Even little Linc was still up for the big show.
