Happy Valentines Day, friends! Enjoy a few pictures of the little man in my life; I sure love him with all my heart! We’ve been out of town for a week, just enjoying family and taking in a few free days before the crazy-busy days approach! There are certain moments in our lives that remind us how special and tender life is. Watching my oldest sister Stephanie become a Mom for the first time was one of those moments for me. I’ll never forget seeing her face grimace with pain, her body shaking and tears streaming her beautiful face as she attempted to labor through a natural birth. Or seeing all of that melt away as they placed a perfect baby Van on her chest after hours or labor. A week after he was born, I came back down to visit. I was blessed enough to witness a new little family and a small part of the love they share. It reminds you what it means to be a photographer. To make a photograph. To capture true life, memories, moments, emotion and love in a single photograph. It’s not about the dress-ups or props. It’s about people and capturing their truth. Someone great once said that is what photography is all about… and I believe it. Family truly means joy and you can simply see it on these new parents faces as they adore their new son. Isn’t there just something so special about a new baby?

Watching Bryce and Nicole with their little one brought back so many memories and feelings for me. It seems just like yesterday we were bringing our sweet boy home from the hospital and now he’s on the brink of 6 months of age. Their faces lit up with every cry, peep, squirm, or grunt. Being a new parent is overwhelming of course, but your heart feels a kind of love you’ve never felt before. You’re exhausted but somehow at those 2 a.m. feedings, you can’t help but smile and feel all sorts of emotion at that tiny little thing in your arms, that thing that now completely consumes your every thought! It’s a wonderful thing and an amazing wonder… enjoy a few moments they shared together as a new family!

{Sad day for a Stud Muffin}

I have been dreading this day since Linc was born…the day he would get his first series of shots. They checked him out in every crack and crevice, measured his height, weight, and head. Then it was time for the little shots. We rarely hear him cry at all, so this was pretty exciting. He looked shocked when the first shot went in and then just plain angry by the 3rd. Then we put him back in his stud muffin shirt and he eventually stopped crying and passed out. (The day we found out that we were having a boy, we ran over to GAP and Brade picked out that onsie for him…he is just now big enough to fit it). He is so sweet and growing up so fast!

So its almost June….and there is snow on the ground.
Lincoln doesn’t seem to mind though.

We have gotten to know this cute family over a few sessions now. Last year we had their maternity, newborn, and this time it was Oakley’s 6 month session. She is such a sweet little thing and found most anything to be a tasty snack. Can’t wait to work with them again!

How sweet is the name “Chloe”? Well it matches this little bug perfectly; she is so sweet and slept almost the entire time. Emily & Brandon are great parents to her and just love her so much! Her aunt Liz made the beautiful quilt and I, well I just wanted to give her a couple of kisses but refrained:) Thanks for the fun night; newborns are THE sweetest!
